Smart, the joint venture between Geely and Mercedes-Benz, has launched the #2 two-seat city car in China. The single Premium trim costs RMB 99,900 (about $14,900), while the 999-unit Couture Edition shown at the Paris Motor Show is reported as sold out in both China and Europe.

The #2 is built on the new ECA electric compact architecture. A 35.8 kWh CATL LFP battery feeds a 60 kW rear motor, for 410 km of CLTC range. Charging from 30% to 80% takes about 15 minutes, and the car supports vehicle-to-load.

At 2,751 mm long with a 1,875 mm wheelbase, it keeps the compact footprint of the fortwo and turns in 3.35 m. The floor sits 25 mm lower than before, giving 1,000 mm of headroom.

The cabin has a 12.8-inch touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital cluster, Sennheiser audio and heated seats. Up to 7 airbags, including a far-side airbag, are fitted, along with adaptive cruise control and blind-spot detection.
