Geely launches Xingyao 6 EF methanol hybrid sedan from RMB 76,800
Geely has put on sale the Galaxy Xingyao 6 EF, a plug-in hybrid sedan that can run on methanol, gasoline or electricity, with limited-time prices of RMB 76,800 to 96,800 (about $11,480 to $14,470).

Geely Auto launched the Galaxy Xingyao 6 EF on 3 November at an event in Shenyang, describing it as the first production methanol hybrid family car. "EF" stands for e-fuel. Three versions are offered at limited-time prices of RMB 76,800 to 96,800 (about $11,480 to $14,470), against official guide prices of RMB 86,800 to 106,800 (about $12,970 to $15,960).
The car pairs a 1.5-litre methanol engine with an electric motor and an LFP battery. Methanol and gasoline can be mixed in any ratio in the same tank, with a sensor reading the blend in real time so the engine can adjust injection and ignition. Geely quotes a thermal efficiency of 48.15% for the engine and cold starts close to -40°C.
CLTC electric range is 130 km on the entry version and 230 km on the other two. Combined range is about 1,250 km on methanol and about 1,880 km on gasoline, each with a full battery. Refuelling takes about 3 minutes.
Built on Geely's GEA architecture, the sedan measures 4,806 mm long with a 2,756 mm wheelbase and a 609-litre boot. Inside are a 14.6-inch central screen, a 10.25-inch digital cluster and the Flyme Auto 2 system.
Geely says more than 6,000 units are already in ride-hailing, taxi and official fleets, and that China has over 1,400 methanol refuelling stations. The Galaxy sub-brand sold 153,385 vehicles in October, up 20.32% year on year.
